Tuesday, July 31 marks the day TSA Prebecomes available at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. TSA is partnering with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as well as U.S. air carriers as part of this initiative. The security check-in program at Lambert will begin for American Airlines passengers only through the C Concourse Checkpoint.

TSA Pre™ is an expedited screening initiative that is expanding to airports across the country. TSA Pre™ enhances aviation security by placing more focus on pre-screening individuals who volunteer to participate to expedite the travel experience.

If TSA determines a passenger is eligible for expedited screening, information is embedded in the barcode of the passenger’s boarding pass. TSA reads the barcode at designated checkpoints and the passenger may be referred to a lane where they will undergo expedited screening, which could include no longer removing the following items:

  • Shoes
  • 3-1-1 compliant bag from carry-on
  • Laptop from bag
  • Light outerwear/jacket
  • Belt

In addition, passengers 12 and younger are allowed through TSA Pre™ lanes with eligible passengers.

TSA will always incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.

American Airlines eligible AAdvantage® program members may have received an email with an opt-in invitation to participate. If American Airlines passengers are interested in TSA Pre™, visit www.aa.com/TSAscreening for details on how to enroll.  Alaska Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways are also participating in the program at more than 16 other airports in the country.

Certain members of CBP's Trusted Traveler programs, including Global Entry, SENTRI, and NEXUS who are U.S. citizens are also eligible to participate in the program.
