Lambert operates approximately 500 scheduled airline departing and arriving flights each day.
Passengers are urged to contact their airlines for the latest flight information through the day and into Monday.

On a typical day, Lambert handles approximately 500 commercial airline flights (both arriving and departing operations).
Flights are still taking off and landing at Lambert. Runways are open. Airlines make the decision to cancel flights. Passengers should check with their airlines for the latest flight information or check the Lambert's flight status page.

While airlines have cancelled roughly 20 percent of the day's total number of scheduled arriving and departing flights, the airfield at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport is open and operational. Crews are actively clearing and treating runways, taxiways, ramp areas as well as the public areas and roadwasy in front of Lambert's terminals.
The predicted winter storm is now hitting the St. Louis metro region.

Lambert Airport is fully open and operational, but Airlines determine flight cancellations. Lambert crews have begun snow removal on all runways, taxiways, ramp areas as well as roadways and public areas in front of Lambert Terminals.

Captain Joshua Payne gets a suprise welcome at Lambert after returning home Friday from a tour of duty.
Family and flags - lots of both- were on hand to throw a surprise party at the Airport for a US Air Force pilot returning home after a tour of duty in the Middle East. Captain Joshua Payne was greeted first by his wife and two sons. He turned the corner and he was then met by his extended family and some of his squadron mates from the 458th Airlift Squadron, based at Scott Air Force Base. The eye-catching part of this reunion was the huge banner his family displayed featuring the Air Force pilot and his sons.
"Safety Man" made his first appearance on a Lambert roadway this week to alert drivers to avoid a construction project.
Spring is springing up and so is "Safety Man." The orange pylon figure, equipped with safety vest, goggles, vest and a hardhat is a creation of the Airport’s Field Maintance crew. His mission is to bring awareness to potentially dangerous areas. This week "Safety Man" was guarding a section on Lambert International Boulevard where crews were repairing a bridge expansion joint. With the warming of temperatures, Lambert crews are trying to get a jump on potholes and other road repairs. Lambert maintains 25 lane miles of roadways on the public side of the Airport’s terminals and dozens more within perimeter of the airfield.
A crew began demolition of a Terminal 1 covered walkway between Arrivals Drive and Bag Claim this week.
The curve top structures that cover the entrances between Terminal 1 Arrivals Drive and Bag Claim are being demolished to make way for new sleek, all-glass enclosed walkways. The structures were partially damaged in the 2011 tornado, which created an opportunity to redesign the lower level entrances to better enhance Lambert’s historic terminal architecture. The project is being funded with support from the Eastman Chemical Company, as well as insurance proceeds. New glass panels will allow natural lighting to brighten the pathways. New high tech layers within the glass bring safety, safety, security and UV protection. Construction on the entrances will run through the summer. Click here to see the rendering.
Lambert-St. Louis International Airport recorded an upswing in passenger traffic for the first month of 2013 with an increase of 2.3 percent in enplanements (departing passengers). In the year over year look, Lambert boarded 448,330 passengers versus 438,049 passengers in January 2012. The overall look at passenger activity in January, both departing and arriving passengers, showed an increase of 17,406 passengers or two percent. The latest passenger numbers continues the upward momentum from 2012 where Lambert served more than 12.7 million total passengers, a year over year increase of 1 percent.
Commercial aircraft departures held steady in January at 6,978 compared to one year ago with 6,964. Total cargo weight of mail and freight increased 18 percent in January versus January 2012. Cargo carriers and commercial airlines carried 13.2 million pounds of cargo in January compared to 11.2 million in 2012.
Lambert operates nearly 250 average daily departures to 62 non-stop destinations. Southwest Airlines is the leading airline measured by total enplaned passengers with a 48 percent market share. American Airlines flew 16 percent of Lambert passengers in January; Delta Airlines flew 13 percent.

A lot of hands were up celebrating and clapping this week at Lambert’s 3rd Annual Catch Us Giving Awards Celebration. More than 150 Airport employees were honored for being caught for giving great customer service in 2012. The Catch Us Giving program received more than 400 nominations in 2012 from customers, passengers and other visitors. Monthly winners throughout the year received special recognition in the program. The Catch Us Giving Ambassador of the Year was Sunni Jefferson with Go Best Express. All nominees and winners had the chance to win prizes at the event, including a pair of round trip tickets on American Airlines.
Airport Terminal Services also Unveils New Blending Process for Kilfrost DFSustain
Lambert-St. Louis International Airport (STL) is the first in the United States to use a new bio-based de-icing fluid that is more environmentally friendly and more cost effective for commercial carriers. Airport Terminal Services (ATS) began using Kilfrost DFSustain Type 1 bio-propanediol for its de-icing operations earlier this month. ATS, based in St. Louis, serves several major airlines at Lambert and other airports across North America. ATS currently de-ices approximately 30 percent of STL commercial aircraft traffic.
DFSustain is derived from a renewable and sustainable source that produces less greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional fossil-fuel based de-icing fluids, such as ethylene and propylene glycols. DFSustain is currently in use by major international carriers such as All Nippon Airways, Air New Zealand and LATAM airlines.
“ATS wanted to support the Airport’s sustainability initiative and be an active green member of the community,” said Brian Wood, ATS Vice President of Operations & Customer Service. “We have the ability to now blend the deicing fluid specific to the local weather conditions, mitigating the impact to the environment, while using a more bio-friendly product.”
ATS installed a new Type 1 Glycol Blending System at Lambert which is manufactured by Liquid Automation Systems. The system allows for ATS crews to customize the de-icing mix on site based on weather conditions. This has the potential to reduce material costs which in turn can reduce the environmental impact associated with aircraft de-icing operations. Lambert is the 4th ATS location where the new de-icing blending system has been installed. Other Airports include Edmonton, Calgary and Moncton.
“The next generation de-icing fluid and the new de-icing blending system are perfect examples of the types of iniatives we are encouraging of all of our Airport partners to undertake as we accelerate our sustainability program at Lambert,” said Lambert Director, Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge. “We hope and anticipate that this type of operation will grow at Lambert and be adopted at other airports in the U.S.”
Lambert’s sustainability program crosses all operational platforms with a commitment to integrate economic, social and environmental aspects into new projects, existing operations and management strategies while providing a quality service to the St. Louis region.
Lambert has been a regional leader in the use of alternative fuels for more than two decades. More than 50 percent of the Airport’s fleet and operations vehicles run on alternative fuels (Compressed Natural Gas & Bio-Diesel). The first public CNG fueling station in the region will soon be built on Airport property. Most recently, the Airport introduced electric work vehicles into its fleet and offers free electric charging stations at its public parking lot operation, Super Park. Lambert also introduced food composting in Airport restaurants in 2012.
