Windows on St. Louis

Get in touch with St. Louis. The “Windows on St. Louis” exhibit begs for passengers and visitors to stop, look and discover a slice of what makes the St. Louis region a great arts and cultural destination. Six “windows” frame this 130-ft glassed-in gallery space in the Main Terminal Baggage Claim. Each is filled with art, sculptures, photographs, memorabilia and interactive imagery from six St. Louis area attractions. The exhibit runs through December 2009.
The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis

The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis window showcases the art and history of one of the largest mosaic collections in the world. The Cathedral features 41.5 million glass tesserae pieces covering 83,000 square feet. The mosaic images took artisans, craftsman, stonecutters and masons nearly a century to complete. www.cathedralstl.org
Gateway Arch

The Gateway Arch window features touch screen computers giving people a high-tech digital tour of the many attractions on the Mississippi Riverfront. By far, the most popular feature for young and old is the chance to direct your own fireworks show over the Arch. www.gatewayarch.com

Laumeier Sculpture Park

The Laumeier Sculpture Park window offers stunning photos from its internationally recognized open-air museum in St. Louis County. Visitors at Lambert can see two pieces of work, including Tobias Putrih’s “Studio at Laumeier 2006.” www.laumeier.org
Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis

The Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis window offers a dizzying selection of images from its galleries which change three to four times a year. The museum features visual arts of all types of media. www.camstl.org
Soldiers Memorial Military Museum

The Soldiers Memorial Military Museum window showcases actual uniforms worn in service or in military action from all the major branches in the U.S. Armed Forces.
