St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) strives to serve the needs of all our travelers. We hope your travel experience through the Airport is an enjoyable one. We offer this information to familiarize you with the Airport’s services and facilities that are available to travelers with disabilities.
The Airport has an Information and Paging Booth with staffing from 7am to 11pm daily. Information Booth staff handle all passenger paging (voice and visual for hearing impaired) and can answer your questions including airport services, airlines, parking and ground transportation. Please call 314-890-1333 for assistance.
Airlines
Many services such as skycaps, sighted guides and wheelchairs are provided by the airlines to their passengers, and are free-of-charge. The Airport does not provide these services. For the best accommodation, please contact your airline in advance to request. Airlines will provide wheelchair assistance at Terminal curbside.
Security Checkpoints
The TSA has specially designed lanes at security checkpoints for persons with disabilities. To help expedite your passage through the security checkpoint, and for information on what items are prohibited onboard the aircraft, visit www.TSA.gov or call (866) 289-9673. TSA Cares is a national helpline that provides travelers with
disabilities, medical conditions and other special circumstances
additional assistance during the security screening process. They can
be reached at (855) 787-2227. Call 72
hours prior to traveling with questions about screening policies,
procedures and what to expect at the security checkpoint.
The TSA also provides on-site Passenger Support Specialists.
Travelers requiring special accommodations, or who are concerned about
the security screening process, may ask a TSA officer or supervisor for a
Passenger Support Specialist who can provide on-the-spot assistance.
Elevators
Elevators are available between the lower and upper levels in the Terminals and all parking garages. Elevators with Braille signage and raised numbers & audible information are in each of the terminals and parking garages.
Emergency Egress
Emergency egress doors have both flashing and audible signals.
Approach and Entrance
Route of travel into Terminals does not require use of stairs. Most entry doors are automatic open and close.
Restrooms
Accessible restrooms are located throughout the Airport. These facilities are indicated by the International Symbol of Accessibility. Companion Care Family restrooms are also located throughout the Airport.
Service Animal Relief Areas
The Airport offers six relief areas for Service Animals.
- T1 Exterior near Exit 6
- A Gates near A16
- C Gates near C24
- T2 Exterior near Exit 15
- T2 E Gates near E4
- T2 E Gates near E40
Signage
Room signs use raised letters and Braille text. High contrast / non-glare finish is provided on directional and informational signage.
TTY Phones
Telephones with communication devices for the hearing impaired are located in all airport terminals and concourses.
Goods and Services
All Goods and Services providers, including all news and gift, food and beverage and specialty retail facility at STL are accessible to travelers with disabilities. All facilities have been designed to comply with ADA regulations. Sales representatives at all Goods and Services locations are able to provide additional assistance upon request and service animals are permitted.
ATM
Automated Teller Machines or ATM’s located in both Terminal Buildings and all three Concourses. The ATM’s are wheelchair accessible.
Visual Paging
Large, easy-to-read LCD monitors throughout the terminals and concourses convey important airport information and airport alerts, such as weather warnings.
Parking & Ground Transportation
The Airport has reserved parking spaces for travelers with disabilities at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 parking garages. All handicap parking spaces are located near an elevator.
Shuttle services to Super Park lots and Terminal Shuttle are provided free of charge and meet ADA requirements. STL has a list of providers that include rental cars, downtown shuttle service, hotel shuttles, taxis and public mass transportation.
Call your airline in advance to make wheelchair arrangements. Airlines will provide free wheelchair assistance at Terminal curbside.
Metro Link Light Rail Line
The region’s light rail line has stops at both Terminals. The Terminal 1 platform is accessible from the east end of the ticketing hall. The Metrolink corridor begins near the overlook of the C Concourse checkpoint. The Terminal 2 Metrolink platform is located just south of the Terminal 2 parking garage. Users can access the platform from either level of the garage to the south. Elevators are available at both terminal platforms. The train platforms are equipped with bridge plates to assist people who use wheelchairs in crossing the gap between the train and the platform.
