K9 Play: STL Photo of the Week
Posted on November 08, 2019 in Photos
Sometimes we all need a chance to play. That's no different for the highly specialized K9 explosive detection K9s at St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL). The K9s are trained and certified by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and dispatched for duty with a partner STL K9 officer. The K9 teams are constantly on the move for highly visible assignments in the terminals or random search patrols at other airport facilities to protect the public and facilities. During those many assignments, officers make sure their partner dogs get some fun time. For Garda, a nearly two-year-old Belgian Malinois, her favorite thing to play with is a rubber Kong. Her partner, Officer Jeff Dutcher, says Garda has high drive when she's working but is happy and highly entertaining when she gets her play breaks.
