Summer Liftoff: STL Photo of the Week

The liftoff to the peak summer travel season has already taken off at St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL). The Airport has already seen a four percent increase in passengers through its checkpoints in the the week leading up to the big Memorial Day holiday weekend. The Airport is expecting at least a three percent increase in passengers between June and August with total passenger projections during that time of more than 4.8 million. Airlines at STL have added destinations, additional frequencies and bigger aircraft to meet the demand. Sun Country Airlines is adding 4x/week service to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) as well as 2x/week service to Portland, OR (PDX). United Airlines is beefing up four of its daily flights with mainline aircraft (Boeing 737 or Airbus A320) to Chicago (ORD), Houston (IAH) and San Francisco (SFO). Frontier Airlines added a second daily flight to Denver (DEN) and extended its seasonal service to Punta Cana, DR (PUJ). Later this summer, Southwest Airlines will add its 47th non-stop destination with new service to Salt Lake City (SLC).
