Vertical Visitors: STL Photo of the Week

Posted on September 27, 2019 in Photos

St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) is blessed to have almost daily views of Boeing F-15 and F-18 take off and landings. However, on Friday, September 27 we got quite the surprise when two United States Marine Corps Harrier jets visited STL for a quick fuel stop. The Harrier jets, informally known as Harrier Jumper Jets, are well known in the aviation industry for their ability to perform vertical take-off and landings (VTOL). The Harrier was one of the first operational aircraft with VTOL capabilities, after being developed in the 1960s. While STL is no stranger to military aircraft, these two birds made quite the scene.
