ST. LOUIS (Oct. 1, 2020): Access to St. Louis Lambert International Airport’s (STL) Terminal Two (T2) arrivals level using Arrivals Drive from Lambert International Boulevard (LIB) will re-open tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 2, 2020, between the hours of 2 and 5 p.m. The detour of airport traffic to the departure level will cease.
Workers will spend Friday morning adding some final pavement markers to the roadway. The first part of a two-part project was completed on-time. This first part was scheduled for completion in two weeks. STL made these necessary enhancements at T2 to improve traffic congestion and add curbside parking on the arrivals level of the terminal. A refreshed wayfinding sign system will follow in the upcoming months, improving the airport experience on both the arrivals and departure levels. In recent years, T2 has seen a significant rise in passenger traffic and an increase in the demand for curbside activities.
While work providing enhanced access to T2’s arrival level is finished, work on a new entrance to the T2 garage will continue. This entrance will allow access of westbound traffic from LIB off I-70 to enter directly from LIB. This will ease the congestion often seen on Arrivals Drive. The new garage entrance for LIB westbound traffic is expected to be completed by late autumn/early winter of this year.
This work is one portion of a multi-phase project, originally part of a 2017 airport bond proposal. Further improvements funded by this bond will include a T2 garage entrance for eastbound LIB to further ease traffic on Arrivals Drive.
The airport’s goal with this work is to improve the passenger experience at T2 — home to Southwest Airlines at STL.
