Annual cleaning of Lindbergh Tunnel means partial closure for drivers overnight

ST. LOUIS (Oct. 9, 2020): Beginning Monday night, Oct. 12, portions of the Lindbergh Tunnel will close for cleaning. This required annual cleaning will take place over four nights.

From Monday night, Oct. 12, through the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 14, the northbound lanes will be closed for cleaning. Starting Wednesday night, Oct. 14, and ending Friday morning, Oct. 16, the southbound lanes will close. The night of Friday, Oct. 16, will be a contingency workday if needed (see schedule listed below).

Each night at 7:30 p.m., safety crews will begin setting up for the lane closures. The required work will take place Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the next morning. The maintenance work must be performed in empty tunnel cells. During this time, the tunnels digital message boards will relay the current outages to drivers using this specific roadway.
