Environmental Assessment

What is NEPA?

The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requires federal agencies to consider environmental impacts of a project before the agency takes actions such as approving or funding the project.

What is an Environmental Assessment?

An Environmental Assessment (EA) is part of the NEPA process.  The EA is a comprehensive study that provides analysis and evidence for determining whether significant environmental impacts would occur as a result of a proposed project.

Did STL Carry Out an EA?

Yes. An EA was the first step toward implementing the planned Consolidated Terminal Program (CTP) and West Airfield Program (WAP) – two projects that resulted from the STL 2023 master plan.

Since STL plans to partially pay for the CTP and WAP with grants from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), STL was required to submit an EA for each project.
