Bienvenidos

Bienvenidos

by Quinn Antonio Briceno

Exhibition Dates: October 2023 through April 2024

Location: Terminal 1,A Gates

This painting was inspired by Google Earth. Unable to visit his home in Nicaragua when he was younger, Briceño had to find an innovative way to connect with his country. Google Earth became the route by which he could take this journey. Although the digital collage isn’t perfectly aligned, the painting represents his Nicaraguan identity, allowing Briceño to display his personal histories that he feels he has missed. The two bicycles located in front of a soccer stadium in San Marcos, Carazo, where his father grew up and his abuelitos lived, symbolize Briceño and his sister and their childhood as Nicaraguan Americans. As the sun rises behind the stadium, Briceño expresses hope and the new life that they are now living.
