Secret Planet
by Neeka Allsup
Exhibition Dates: Now through September 2024
Location: Post-Security, near gates E34 and 36
In these colorful paintings, Neeka Allsup presents invented landscapes that speak to abundance in conjunction with her sustainable artistic practice. The light-hearted imagery – plants inspired by candy and cake, magic houses, smiling moths, and more — comes directly from her subconscious and she paints things that she later analyzes, like dreams. She is interested in interpretation, and how our subconscious shows us metaphors about our life through symbolism in both dreams and waking life. She is also interested in how we can be mindful of waste, even amidst the seemingly endless supplies of materials and resources we have.
