STL Once Again Seeing an Uptick in Confiscations of “Cat Eyes”
Prohibited device leads to a summons by Airport Police
ST. LOUIS (April 29, 2021): Over the weekend of April 24-25, St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) confiscated four more devices from travelers that many call “cat eyes.” STL wants to remind those flying out of STL that cat eyes are confiscated when going through a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint and an individual may face legal action.
TSA considers cat eyes a prohibited item, but for the individual carrying the device it also leads to a concealed weapons summons based on County Ordinance. STL has seen a rise of travelers with such a device on their key chains or simply carrying the device in their pockets.
While many passengers may not realize cat eyes are prohibited items we are reminding everyone to be attentive and remove them from their belongings before traveling. Anyone flying through STL can always refer to the TSA website to see what items are prohibited when traveling.
These calls are also becoming an additional responsibility for Airport Police.
