ST. LOUIS, MO (October 1, 2025): British Airways will be touching down in St. Louis, Missouri for customers looking to book their next trip across the pond. British Airways has announced it will begin seasonal non-stop service between St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR), connecting St. Louis travelers directly to one of the world’s most important global hubs beginning April 19, 2026.

British Airways will operate four flights per week, creating new opportunities for both leisure and business travel. St. Louis-based customers are now just a convenient non-stop flight away from the U.K.’s capital city and all the iconic attractions London has to offer. From sightseeing the ‘Big Ben’, Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge and Buckingham Palace, to exploring tourist hot spots such as Borough Market, Shoreditch, Battersea and Notting Hill, there’s something for every kind of traveler.

The new, direct service will provide customers with greater access and premium service to the U.K. and beyond. With this new route, customers have access to one of the world’s most extensive global networks through British Airways’ hub at London Heathrow Airport.

“The is a great day for the future of St. Louis,” said Ambassador Kevin F. O’Malley, Chair of the St. Louis County Port Authority which took the lead role in securing the contract. “Obtaining non-stop service between St. Louis and London has been a goal of the Port Authority and one which we are happy to announce today. With this new route, British Airways, a world-class international carrier, is recognizing the progress our City and County are making and the growing importance of the St. Louis region in the global economy.”

“British Airways’ decision to serve St. Louis is proof that our city belongs on the global stage,” said Mayor Cara Spencer. “This flight makes St. Louis more accessible to the world while giving our residents another seamless connection to Europe and beyond. It’s a win for our economy, for our reputation and for everyone who believes in the promise of St. Louis.”

The new British Airways service between St. Louis and London Heathrow is expected to have a significant and lasting impact on the regional economy. Industry research and peer city benchmarks show that non-stop service to Europe can generate between $50 million and $100 million annually for a metro economy. For St. Louis, that means stronger global business ties, new tourism revenue and an enhanced ability to compete on the world stage.

“With this direct flight, we are connecting the St. Louis region to one of the world’s most popular destinations and growing our global reach,” said St. Louis County Executive Sam Page. “From the Gateway Arch to the Tower of London, this new fight will increase tourism and help meet the needs of the companies that do business here and in Europe.”

“This new flight is a game changer for St. Louis,” said Brad Dean, President and CEO of Explore St. Louis. “It connects our region to the world, making St. Louis more accessible to international visitors and businesses while positioning us as a global destination. From tourism and conventions to major events and international trade, this flight elevates our brand and our reach exponentially. We are especially grateful to the St. Louis County Port Authority and the team at St. Louis Lambert International Airport for their tireless efforts in making this possible.”

The announcement comes at a pivotal moment for St. Louis, as the region prepares to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Route 66 in 2026 and to serve as a gateway to FIFA World Cup games in Kansas City and other U.S. host cities. Direct access to London will strengthen St. Louis’s ability to attract visitors, conventions and major international events, while also supporting the region’s business and trade sectors.

Explore St. Louis will collaborate with Brand USA, the nation’s public–private destination marketing organization, to leverage this new service and elevate the city’s reputation abroad. Together, these efforts will showcase St. Louis as a uniquely American city full of culture, creativity and opportunity.

Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, said, “We’re thrilled to be adding St. Louis to our U.S. network – a city known for its proud history, vibrant culture, and growing demand for international travel. As the only non-stop flight to the U.K., this new service makes it easier than ever for travelers across the Midwest to connect with London and beyond, while also welcoming more customers to experience everything St. Louis has to offer.”

“This new service is the result of years of collaboration,” said Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge, Executive Director of St. Louis Lambert International Airport. “Our team has worked tirelessly with British Airways and more recently with the St. Louis County Port Authority, the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership and the World Trade Center St. Louis to make this happen. Our additional partnership with Explore St. Louis shows the strength of our region coming together to support this effort and bring home the ‘win.’ We are thrilled to offer our travelers a direct connection to one of the world’s great cities. This flight to London Heathrow opens doors for international business, tourism and cultural exchanges that will put St. Louis on a growing international stage.”
