Southwest Airlines employees hand out Build-A-Bear teddy bears on September 5 to passengers headed to Dallas, Tx.

National Teddy Bear Day is Sunday, Sept 9. In honor of that, Southwest Airlines and St. Louis-based Build-A-Bear partnered on a campaign to show their love through a major teddy bear giveaway this month. It started this week with a surprise to a single flight of Dallas-bound passengers. Passengers received a co-branded Southwest and Build-A-Bear stuffed teddy bear prior to boarding the plane. Build-A-Bear’s mascot, Bearemy, also joined the celebration to the delight of many children and their parents at the gate in Terminal 2. The airport surprise leads into even bigger surprises as 20,000 teddy bears will soon be donated to 36 children’s hospitals, as well as Make-A-Wish® and Ronald McDonald House charities across the country.
