Airfield Fire Extinguisher Training Classes

Class Description:

Airfield fire extinguishers are categorized into classes based on the type of fire they are designed to combat. The main classes are A, B, C, and D, with some airports also using Class K extinguishers. Class A extinguishers are for ordinary combustibles like paper, wood, and cloth. Class B extinguishers are for flammable liquids and gases, such as gasoline and propane. Class C extinguishers are for electrical fires, and Class D extinguishers are for flammable metals like magnesium. Some airports may also utilize Class K extinguishers, designed for fires involving cooking oils and fats. 

The class is open to anyone with a SIDA Badge. The Class length is around 2 hours or less.

  • When to use a fire extinguisher
  • When not to a fire extinguisher
  • Actual hands-on operations of a fire extinguisher of an active fire

Everyone should bring a writing utensil with them to class. The location of the training class with be the North Firehouse. Upon completion, a certificate will be issued via inter office mail.

Instructors ask that those taking this course arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled class time. Attendees who arrive 5 minutes past the scheduled class time will NOT be allowed to take the class. They will need to reschedule the class for another day.
