Annual Cleaning of the Lindbergh Tunnel Begins Thursday

The project requires lane closures that affect traffic
ST. LOUIS, MO (September 18, 2024): Beginning Thursday night, September 19, 2024, portions of the Lindbergh Tunnel will be closed for cleaning. This year the required annual cleaning of the tunnel will take place over two nights. On Thursday night, September 19 through the morning of Friday, September 20 the northbound lanes of the tunnel will be closed. Then starting Friday night, September 20 and ending Saturday morning, September 21 the southbound lanes will be closed (see schedule listed below).
Each night at 7:00 p.m. safety crews will begin setting up for the lane closures. The required work will take place each night from 7:30 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the next morning. The maintenance work must be performed in empty tunnel cells. During this time, the tunnels digital message boards will relay the current outages to drivers and specific lanes used during the necessary detours.
