Onward Forward

These installations show movement that is onward but may not be forward. The irony of life is that although time is moving, things may not change. We keep trying, but the result does not always come in a timely manner. Still, there is onward movement that keeps our spirit alive.
About the Artist: Mee Jey
With research degrees in History and Field Archaeology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, Mee Jey went on to receive an MFA degree in visual arts from Washington University in St. Louis.
In St. Louis, Mee has had solo exhibitions and performances at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, Kranzberg Arts Gallery, and Bruno David Gallery. Nationally and internationally, she has shown her work at Middlesex University (London, UK), India Habitat Center (New Delhi), Kansas State University (KS), and Auburn University (AL). She has participated in group shows in New York, Miami, and St. Louis, as well as Athens (Greece), London (UK), and New Delhi (India).
Mee has held artist residencies at Laumeier Sculpture Park, Craft Alliance, and the Kranzberg Arts Foundation, as well as Procreate Project in London. Mee served as the Creative Lab Fellow at Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (2023-24) and created a permanent public sculpture at 1515 N. Grand Street.
Mee’s recent honors include the St. Louis Visionary Emerging Artist Award (2022) and Mother Art Prize International Residency in London (2023).
