ST. LOUIS, April 19, 2026 – British Airways has officially touched down in St. Louis, Missouri (STL) with the airline’s inaugural flight from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) arriving on time at approximately 7:30 p.m. local time on April 19, 2026. Home to the iconic Gateway Arch, St. Louis now becomes the airline’s 27th U.S. destination served directly from London.

The new route makes British Airways the only U.K. airline to offer non-stop service between St. Louis and London, providing customers with greater access and premium service to the other side of the Atlantic and beyond. Through the airline’s hub at London Heathrow, customers can connect seamlessly to one of the world’s most extensive global networks, made up of more than 200 destinations.

The inaugural flight received a warm welcome as it taxied to stand, with arriving customers greeted with goodie bags, live entertainment and British-themed refreshments. Departing customers were also treated to a cake and ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the historic moment.

Adding a light-hearted touch to the milestone, every cabin crew member operating the first outbound flight from St. Louis was named Louis or Louise – a playful nod to the city and the new route. To add to the excitement, St. Louis-based Build-A-Bear Workshop – which has European headquarters just outside of London – gifted customized Timeless Teddy Bears for each traveler – a memorable companion to mark the milestone and add a little more heart to the journey.

Neil Chernoff, Chief Planning and Strategy Officer at British Airways, said: “This route marks an important milestone for both British Airways and St. Louis. As the only non-stop service to the U.K., it gives travelers from across the Midwest easy access to London and beyond via Heathrow, supported by our extensive global network and seamless connections. With the strong support of the airport, tourism partners and the wider St. Louis community, we look forward to welcoming more business and leisure customers to discover everything the city has to offer.”

Rhonda Hamm Niebruegge, St. Louis Lambert International Airport’s CEO and Airport Director, said: “We proudly welcome British Airways to St. Louis Lambert International Airport as our newest airline partner. With London joining the list of destinations, we celebrate a significant moment in the airport’s storied history. Today, London signifies the dawn of a new era for international travelers at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.”

The airline will be operating four flights per week during the summer season, creating new opportunities for both leisure and business travel. St. Louis-based customers are now just a convenient non-stop flight away from the U.K.’s capital city and all the iconic attractions London have to offer. From sightseeing the ‘Big Ben’, Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge and Buckingham Palace, to exploring tourist hot spots such as Borough Market, Shoreditch, Battersea and Notting Hill, there’s something for every kind of traveler.

Served by a Boeing 787 fleet, customers have a choice of three cabins – World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and Club World (business class).

Customers in Club World will be able to experience the airline’s latest business class seat, Club Suite, on select flights, offering personal space with direct aisle access, a full flat bed and a 17” high-resolution screen for entertainment. The cabin also features a brasserie-style dining experience, with a choice of freshly prepared starters, mains, desserts, and cheeses.

The service will also benefit from the Atlantic Joint Business partnership with American Airlines, Iberia, Finnair, Aer Lingus and LEVEL, offering seamless connections and competitive fares across Europe and North America.
