Southwest Airlines Flight 398 departs St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) for Chicago Midway International Airport (ORD) on Friday, November 9, 2018.

As the cold weather makes its way into the St. Louis area, one Southwest Airlines (SWA) pilot is making his way out. Captain Juan Alfonso took his final flight in the captain’s seat on Friday, November 9th after 26 years of flying for SWA. As SWA flight 398 taxied from the gate to the runway, STL celebrated his years of service with a water cannon salute, a customary tradition for retiring pilots and other aviation professionals. With friends and family onboard, Captain Alfonso departed St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) for Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) one last time. Congratulations, Captain Alfonso.
