This week, the Lambert Art & Culture Program crew installed “ArtReach: Zines as Activism,” presented by the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis and Counterpublic.
Created by student artists from Sumner High School, the exhibition grew from a spring collaboration with Resident Teaching Artist Cleonique Hilsaca, visiting artists and the People’s Art and Recreation Center. Through handmade zines, students explored their hopes for a better future, for themselves, their communities, and St. Louis.

Corporal Stephen Joe Mayer, a St. Louis native and U.S. Marine killed in action during World War II during the battle for Tarawa, was finally brought home more than eight decades after his death in the Pacific.
As his flight arrived at STL, a water cannon salute honored a soldier whose story was never forgotten.
