American Airlines’ special 250th Anniversary livery recently made a stop at STL, sporting a bold red, white, and blue “250” in celebration of the United States’ Semiquincentennial.

The timing has an extra layer of aviation history: 2026 also marks American Airlines’ 100th anniversary of service.

A century in the skies meets 250 years of America and, for a little while, both milestones recently had a spot on the runway at STL.

This week, the Lambert Art & Culture Program crew installed “ArtReach: Zines as Activism,” presented by the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis and Counterpublic.
Created by student artists from Sumner High School, the exhibition grew from a spring collaboration with Resident Teaching Artist Cleonique Hilsaca, visiting artists and the People’s Art and Recreation Center. Through handmade zines, students explored their hopes for a better future, for themselves, their communities, and St. Louis.

As the sun dipped toward the horizon, British Airways prepared for another nonstop journey from St. Louis to London Heathrow, framed by an evening that reminds us airports can be just as beautiful as the destinations they connect.

It’s a view our Operations team gets to experience from time to time, and we’re grateful they shared this one with all of us.
