Southwest Boosts 2020 Summer Schedule with Peak 142 Daily Departures

Southwest Airlines, the largest carrier at St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL), is boosting frequencies across its June 2020 schedule with an additional 14 to 22 daily departures versus its early summer 2019 schedule. The airline’s summer 2020 Sunday schedule will peak out with 142 daily departures, 22 more than the same time period in 2019. The Mon-Friday schedules will peak at 132 daily departures, 14 more than a year ago. The Saturday schedules will peak at 117 daily departures, up 14 flights as well, over 2019.
“We thank Southwest Airlines for its continued growth of service to very important business and leisure destinations,” said St. Louis City Mayor Lyda Krewson.
The new schedule that runs from June 7 through August 10 boosts frequencies to key business markets for the region. Southwest is adding two additional daily flights to Chicago Midway for a total of 10 daily roundtrip flights (M-F). Denver gets an additional daily flight to top out at seven daily flights (S-F). Boston will see five daily flights this summer on Southwest (M-F), one more than a year ago. New York LaGuardia gets an additional flight to reach four daily flights (S-F). And Southwest will serve Seattle now with two daily M-F flights, up one flight over a year ago.
The June 2020 Sunday schedule includes an additional flight to markets like Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Baltimore, Columbus, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Houston-Hobby, Los Angeles, LaGuardia, Panama City, and Kansas City.
The Southwest Airlines schedule also boosted its international service to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and Montego Bay, Jamaica with a second weekly flight to those destinations, on both Saturdays and Sundays.
Southwest is currently operating its early winter schedule which peaks at 110 daily departures (Sundays). It’s late spring schedule from April to June, the airline announced it would peak at 135 daily departures (Sundays) with 124 daily flights M-F. Southwest Airlines serves 51 destinations from STL and has a 60 percent market share of enplaned passengers.
