STL 2020 YTD Air Traffic Activity Report

Today, we are sharing data that illustrates how the airport is operating to meet essential trade, travel, and economic needs of the St. Louis region while experiencing the ramifications of the global pandemic.

Most passengers continue to follow guidance to avoid non-essential travel, actions that help us maintain the health and safety of those performing essential tasks. About 55,000 passengers traveled through STL in April of 2020, which is a decrease of 95.9 percent from the same month last year.

To date, passenger volume has increased slightly this month and is trending down about 85 percent from this time last year.

Passenger and Cargo Data for April 2020

  • More than 55,000 passengers traveled through STL in April 2020, down 95.9 percent from the same month last year
    • Compared to 1,333,524 passengers in April 2019
  • Aircraft operations (takeoffs and landings) decreased 60 percent in April 2020 compared to the same month last year with about 214 daily operations
  • Air cargo, including freight and mail, increased 1.3 percent from April 2019; and is up more than 13.3 percent overall in 2020
  • Nearly 3 million air passengers traveled through STL from January to April 2020, a 39.6 percent decrease from the first four months of 2019
