2020 Air Traffic Activity Report

The current climate in the midst of a global pandemic has presented unique challenges for STL during 2020. Even though our passenger numbers are not where we had hoped they would be, we are confident we have set the foundation that will keep us flying high into 2021 and beyond.
State of STL by the Numbers: Passenger and Cargo Data for 2020
- Nearly 185 million pounds of air cargo, including freight and mail, came through the airport in 2020 - an increase of nearly 26 million pounds or 16.5 percent
- Connecting traffic was up one percent – allowing airlines to build market share and continue to introduce non-stop flights
- Total aircraft departures was down only 36 percent – affording our local customers more opportunities for travel than the industry average
- More than 6.3 million air passengers traveled through STL in 2020, a 60 percent decrease from 2019
